“Detroit Swims” Program with the YMCA in Detroit
February 10, 2016
Just got word that the State Bar of Michigan is featuring our program involving a swim program for children with special needs at the Detroit YMCA.
We’ve been involved in this program for several months, and it’s a thrill to know that it is attracting attention in the legal community as an example of impactful community involvement. The program supports swimming lessons at the Boll Family YMCA in Detroit for 216 children with physical and cognitive impairments. The lessons began this past fall and continue into the spring of 2016.
The students in the program come from eight schools across metro Detroit including:
- Spain Elementary -Middle
- Marcus Garvey Academy
- Nichols School
- A.L. Holmes Elementary
- Sampson-Webber Leadership Academy
- Keidan Special Education School
- Turning Point Academy
- Detroit Collegiate Prep High School
