Mark Bernstein, who's representing Xavier's parents in a civil suit, was in the courtroom on Tuesday. He described the surveillance footage as "16 minutes of horror" and said he'd seen a small part of it. He said the video is likely to be played in trial.

The family's attorney, Mark Bernstein, said in a statement that Xavier’s death should force the community to consider what they believe is a “longstanding problem of Detroit property and dog owners who fail to show an acceptable level of responsibility to protect their innocent neighbors.”

It's been an understandable struggle for Constantine, who is originally from Warren but came to Detroit about a year ago. He was in critical condition when he was brought to Detroit Receiving Hospital after the nighttime attack on Oct. 2 and underwent scores of surgeries that included skin grafts to cover the bones in his right arm and leg.
