COTS has been helping the city of Detroit since 1982. This non-profit organization was founded to create opportunities for families to collaborate, thrive, and succeed in building strong and stable households, neighborhoods, and communities. Through partnerships, such as the Call Sam Cares program, they are able to assist families in reaching their housing, economic, health, education and career goals as they overcome homelessness and break the cycle of poverty for the next generation and beyond.

For over 43 years, COTS has been assisting families in poverty through services such as: emergency shelter, supportive housing assistance, childcare, immobility coaching and many more! These services help families set goals, make plans for a stable future and continue their efforts of getting ahead and out of poverty stricken situations.

COTS relies on volunteers from the Detroit community and surrounding areas. These volunteers selflessly offer any and all skills they have to help support those that may not have access to things like tutoring, food provisions, child-engagement activities, resume writing and even financial empowerment workshops. COTS plans to use their Call Sam Cares donation to improve and maintain their facilities and services so that their doors remain open to help other succeed in life.
