Hometown Heroes

Home>Community Service>Hometown Heroes

In partnership with JTV in Jackson, Michigan, The Sam Bernstein Law Firm created “Hometown Heroes” in 2015. This program was designed to honor First Responders in the JTV viewing area who have demonstrated bravery, compassion, courage, dedication and selflessness in the line of duty.

JTV viewers were invited to nominate deserving individuals in the community for the honor of “Hometown Heroes.” After reviewing the submissions, a panel of judges selected five finalists, whose stories were presented on JTV and social media venues for JTV and The Sam Bernstein Law Firm. The winners were then selected by JTV viewers and Facebook visitors.

Winners of the “Hometown Hero” award were featured on a segment of JTV’s “The Bart Hawley Show.” In addition, Mark Bernstein presented an award plaque to the winners and made a $250 donation to a charity selected by the honoree.

“The people of Jackson have always been important to our firm,” said Mark Bernstein, President and Managing Partner of The Sam Bernstein Law Firm. “Throughout the years, we have heard stories from our clients about the brave men and women of this community who put their lives on the line by responding first to accidents and injuries. We are proud to be able to work with JTV to recognize the heroes who deserve far more attention than they usually receive.”

Jackson Police Chief Matt Heins, Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand and Jackson Fire Department Deputy Chief Dave Wooden joined Bernstein in making the announcement. “The men and women of our departments are honored to serve the public. I appreciate The Sam Bernstein Law Firm and JTV for making this fantastic effort to showcase the stories we in our departments hear every day.” said Steve Rand.
