Medical Malpractice Attorney
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Attorney to join our legal team. Responsibilities include managing medical malpractice cases through all phases of litigation, reviewing and analyzing medical records, working with medical experts, drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, and representing clients in court. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience handling medical malpractice matters. A Juris Doctor (JD) and active Michigan Bar membership are required.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Case Management: Handle all aspects of medical malpractice litigation, including case evaluation, strategy development, discovery, and document drafting.
- Medical Case Review: Review and analyze medical records and other relevant documentation to evaluate claims and develop case strategies.
- Expert Collaboration: Work with medical experts and expert witnesses regarding standards of care, causation, damages, and other medical issues.
- Court Representation: Represent clients in depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Client Consultation: Advise clients on legal matters, case developments, and potential outcomes.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research related to medical malpractice claims and applicable laws.
- Negotiation: Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance companies and advise clients on their options.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and medical experts for efficient case management.
- Client Relations: Maintain regular communication and build strong relationships with clients throughout the litigation process.
Qualifications and Skills:
- JD degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Michigan.
- Experience handling medical malpractice litigation.
- Experience reviewing medical records and working with medical experts.
- Strong oral and written communication, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manage complex legal and medical issues.
- Proficient in legal research, writing, and case management software.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
