Entry-Level Attorney / Law Clerk

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Attorney/Law Clerk to join our Grand Rapids team. The ideal candidate will assist senior attorneys with case management, legal research, document drafting, and court filings. This role offers hands-on experience in a variety of legal matters, making it a perfect fit for recent graduates, those completing law school, or junior attorneys looking to grow their careers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and briefs
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents such as contracts, discovery requests, and trial materials
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, trials, depositions, and client meetings under attorney supervision
  • Review and organize case files, court documents, and discovery materials
  • Maintain communication with clients, providing updates and ensuring high levels of service
  • Support attorneys in the development of case strategies
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling, and preparing correspondence
  • Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents related to firm’s practice areas

 

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school or current law student in their final year
  • Active Bar membership (or pending admission) in [State]
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to client service
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when needed
  • Familiarity with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software is a plus
