Whether you’re a past, present or future client, when you’re with Bernstein, you’re family for life. When the opportunity to support a client’s special needs son came along years after winning their case, Bernstein attorneys Stefanie Fryer and Steve Boehringer quite literally jumped at the chance to help. Without hesitation, both Fryer and Boehringer joined the Grand Rapids Polar Plunge in support of their client and Special Olympics Michigan.
Each year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge series challenges thousands of brave jumpers at numerous locations around the state. The fundraiser provides a unique opportunity to get involved in Special Olympics Michigan, and all funds raised go towards year-round sports training and athletic competition for nearly 23,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Michigan.
Participating is simple: register, raise a minimum of $75 and take a dip at any one of the 30 Polar Plunge locations in Michigan. The Bernstein pair did their part by raising $525 and taking the plunge on a brisk February morning at Fifth Third Ballpark.
When all was said and done, both Fryer and Boehringer were proud to support their Bernstein family and the Special Olympics Michigan community, even if it meant taking a dip in less than ideal weather and water conditions.
“I wouldn’t do it for anyone but family.” Fryer said when asked why she would take the sub zero plunge. “When it comes to our clients, we’re more than a law firm. We are family.”
