We are committed to helping the noble veterans who serve our country with bravery and honor. Unfortunately, many returning veterans do not have the resources to provide basic needs for themselves and their families.
This is why we have partnered with various local organizations to offer year-round programs and events to improve the lives of those who put our safety and comfort before their own.
Here are some of the projects our firm has undertaken to benefit our deserving veterans.
In partnership with Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI) and the Detroit Pistons, we established the Call Sam Kitchen for Veterans to help end hunger for veterans who are homeless or cannot afford adequate food. With the help of volunteers from our firm and our partner organizations, the Detroit-based kitchen serves hot meals 365 days a year to local veterans and their families.

As an official partner of the Detroit Lions, several members of our firm joined volunteers from other organizations in the team’s annual “Salute to Service” event on Friday, Nov. 10 2023at the Detroit Lions Academy. The day will be spent assembling care packages to send to active military members overseas.

One of our most popular initiatives is the “Call Sam Chopper Shop,” sponsored in partnership with Bad Pig Customs in Hazel Park and Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI). For the past three summers, a group of volunteers builds a one-of-a-kind motorcycle from the ground up, which is donated to VOAMI and raffled off to support our veterans.
Celebrity host Darren McCarty documents the process in a series of step-by-step videos posted on our website, YouTube and social media outlets. In addition, volunteers from the Sam Bernstein Law Firm and VOAMI attend a variety of motorcycle events throughout the summer to sell raffle tickets and give away lots of free swag, including t-shirts, hats, bandanas, detail towels and more.

Our ongoing partnership with VOAMI (Volunteers of America Michigan) includes a variety of events throughout the year for local veterans and their families. Past programs have included summer picnics, lunches and other activities.
We were proud to participate in an event where Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI) gave 11 cars to 11 local veterans to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their Detroit Veteran Housing Facility.
Sadly, thousands of veterans who courageously served our country are struggling to afford housing, food and other basic necessities. They need our support.
Help VOAMI end veteran homelessness and hunger by donating money, household goods and clothing or volunteering for the Call Sam Kitchen or other VOAMI programs.
