Litigation Legal Assistant / Secretary
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Litigation Legal Assistant/Secretary to support our legal team. Responsibilities include preparing legal documents, managing case files, coordinating schedules, and assisting with trial preparation. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, proficiency in legal software, and a solid understanding of litigation procedures. Previous experience in a law firm is preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Document Preparation and Management: Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents (pleadings, motions, etc.). File documents with courts, ensuring compliance with deadlines. Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.
- Case Management: Assist in managing case calendars and scheduling. Monitor deadlines and ensure timely document submission. Coordinate exhibits and evidence for trials and hearings.
- Client and Witness Coordination: Communicate with clients for updates and meetings. Arrange witness interviews and deposition schedules. Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary, ideally in litigation. Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, and documents.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
