Mark Picklo began his career with the firm as a legal assistant in 1988. At the time, he was working full-time during the day while attending Detroit College of Law in the evenings.
Mark was inspired to become a lawyer by his father-in-law, Bernie Zaffern, who was one of the first lawyers at the firm. As a lawyer, Mark is motivated by the desire to promote the protection and interest of all individuals’ right to fairness and justice. His priority is to advance the achievement of justice for all clients, and he feels that it is important for people to have strong, experienced advocates.
Mark’s interest in helping is also apparent in his personal life, as he is active with the Michigan Humane Society, Jewish Family Services of Detroit, and The YES Foundation. He enjoys working out, playing squash, and reading non-fiction.
Mark was born and raised in Detroit. He studied political science at Oakland University and obtained his master’s degree in international relations at University of Denver, before completing his juris doctor at Detroit College of Law in 1992. Mark’s background in politics and international relations remains a strong influence in his life, as he has traveled extensively internationally and enjoys a good history book.
